Take or choose a photo of what you want to report — a pothole, illegal dumping, a broken streetlight, whatever it is.
What happens to your photo?
Before it's uploaded, your photo is re-encoded as a fresh image. That removes device make/model, camera serial number, lens info, color profile, and any other identifying EXIF, IPTC, or XMP data.
We read the photo's GPS coordinates separately, on your device, only to place your report on the map in the next step — that's the only piece of the original metadata we keep.
The cleaned photo and your report text may also be checked by OpenAI's automated moderation service to help us review potentially harmful content. This check never approves or rejects the report for us.
